It has been reported in Electronics Weekly.com that Sharp have put up their Copier business for sale. Sharp entered photocopier market in 1972 and have grown to be a significant player in the printer/copier field
David Manners of Electronics Weekly.com reports that Sharp has been bailed out by the banks to the tune of $4.6bn and that Sharp has debts of $12.76bn. To secure the loans Sharp has put up its Osaka HQ building and its stake in Pioneer as collateral, it also plans to lay off 10,000 employees.
How this will affect Sharp Copier’s in the UK is yet to be seen, but it must make for an uncertain future.
